Hamble, (14/02/12): It’s just under one month to go to the 50th Anniversary Warming Pan event, which will be hosted by Hamble River Sailing Club on 10th and 11th March 2012.

The event organizers have confirmed the final line up of classes which includes the Merlin Rockets, Fireflys, National 12s & Foxers, together with a new addition for 2012, the Enterprise class.

The Merlin Rocket and Firefly classes will be using the Warming Pan as the first event in their classes main travelers series, the Silver Tiller and Vines Trophy.

There will be two races each day for the Enterprise, Firefly, Merlin and National 12 fleets and four races a day for the Foxer fleet. Racing will start and finish on the HRSC club line, just five minutes sail from the launching area. The event Notice of Race is now available at the bottom of this article. Entry Forms and NOR can also be found on the Warming Pan 2012 Calendar entry on this website.

Warming Pan history

The first Hamble Warming Pan regatta was held in 1962 when there were just two competing classes, Merlin Rockets and National 12 dinghies. Over the years the invite list expanded until eight classes were invited to attend in 2002. Racing is held in the confines of the River Hamble and is run by Hamble River Sailing Club, based near the centre of Hamble village. Warming Pan competitors come from all parts of the country but have always included a strong local contingent from Hamble and Warsash.
