Dinghy Hire Agreement
This agreement sets out the conditions under which a club-owned dinghy is hired out.
- All members using a club dinghy must sign the dinghy out in the dinghy logbook
positioned near the netrance to the club before going afloat.
- Dinghies may be booked in advance by application to the Club Secretary.
- All persons sailing a club dinghy shall be sufficiently competeent
at the skills of sailing such dinghies.
- Hirers must pay the hire fee on the day of hiring,
at the Bar unless other arrangements are made.
- Dinghies are not to be hired or used by non-club members without the
express permission of a Flag Officer or his/her representative.
Non-members shall be limited to three separate hirings. On such accasions
a full member must sign out the dinghy on behalf of a non-member and the HRSC member
will be responsible for the hire fee.
- Each dinghy comprises the following equipment:
- Hull, spars, sail and running rigging complete.
- Dagger board or centre board & rudder.
- Buscket, bailer & paddle.
- Cover and launching trolley
All Loose equipment is to be secured to the hull to prevent
loss in the event of a capsize. This equipment shall not be left unsecured at any time.
- Life jackets or Buoyancy aids must be worn when afloat.
- While afloat, hirers shall conform to the safety requirements as
set down in the HRSC rules and shall ensure that personal buoyancy is worn by
themselves and their crew. On completion of the hire period, the dinghy shall be left in
its correct number berth, in a clean and tidy condition.
- Hired dingies shall sail only within the confines of the River hamble,
and not South of a line drawn between Hamble Point Quay and the Warsash College
Pier, unless authorised by the Secretary or an officer of the club.
- Any loss or damage found at the start of the Hire Period or occurring
during the Hire Period, must either be noted in the back of the Dinghy Hire Book and/or
reported to the Sailing Secretary as soon as possible.
Hirers shall reimburse the club for any loss or damage caused during their
period of hire, to a dinghy or a third party,
and shall either, a) pay the full cost of replacement parts and/or
repair costs, or b) pay the amount of any insurance excess applicable,
plus any loss of no claim discount, whichever is the less.
